In the second grade class I am observing the teacher tries to give me as many chances to work with the kids as I possibly can. For one of the days, she had me work with 3 boys on a worksheet the class was doing. One thing I found difficult was that the boys learned the material differently. This was not something I had expected and I struggled a bit to teach all of them the right way to do the worksheet.

EDEL 1010 Blog Post #1
I am currently observing a 2nd grade class at Art City Elementary in Springville Ut. Watching them I find it interesting how many different things the teacher does to grab and keep their attention. I think this is directly related to how people learn differently. Ms. Sutton (the teacher) is constantly incorporating different things into her lessons.
One thing she is constantly doing is having them move from the carpet to their desks, which helps the kids who struggle to sit still for very long get their wiggles out so that they can focus. They also are doing a king/queen for the day activity, where they have one classmate who gets to be the king for the day and the class writes them a letter. This is a great social learning activity because they get to interact with their classmates. Overall I have enjoyed observing and helping with the class so far.
